Greetings
The purpose of the dissertation in MDS course is to introduce the PG students to research environment and to develop the technique of writing a research paper for scientific journals. But unfortunately most of the dissertations have been done only for the sake of completing the course and nothing is done in respect to its follow-up or its publication. This situation should be changed, by devoting certain percentage of time in each year of the post-graduate course, from choosing the topic till its publication.
Since most of the dental surgeons who finished master's degree join teaching institutions, the MDS degree program should also contain the technique of teaching. Many a time a good researcher or clinician may not be a good teacher and unfortunately professionals are not expected to undergo B Ed or M Ed course to enter into the teaching faculty. Apart from leaming the teaching skills during the PG course, the teaching faculty should be directed to attend certain number of workshops, seminars and hands-on courses on "Teaching" and such programs should be conducted periodically by Dental Council of India and the respected universities,
