This article discussed the importance and feasibility of the transition of the teaching method from light to virtual microscopy in the dental and medical colleges in India. The author of the article has highlighted the advantages of virtual microscopy, like avoidance of breakage or damage of slides, elimination of teaching errors, maintaining the quality of images for years, effective learning and increased learning concentration, cost-effectiveness, etc. This article also emphasized on a working plan for the construction of a virtual microscopy lab. The practical classes are as important as theory classes in the medical, dental and its allied science curriculum. Hence the statutory bodies of dental and medical sciences should think about the advantages of virtual microscopy and its practical implementation in their institutions as cited by the author.
