Sir,

We would like to discuss on the report on "Expression of maspin in benign and malignant salivary gland tumors. [1]" Reshma et al. concluded "intensity of expression is more in benign tumors when compared with malignant tumors. [1]" In fact, the diagnostic property of maspin is still controversial. In the previous report, it was found that the level of maspin expression in malignant salivary gland is variable. [2] Within the small sample size study, the overlapping of maspin expression level between benign and malignant might not be observed. In addition, the level of maspin expression also reduces in aging. [3] These factors should be kept in mind when interpret the maspin result in salivary gland tumors.
